My Story
I will be attempting to run the GNR to raise money for Wag & company! Currently I can't run more the 3 miles without dying so 13 is going to be a challenge.
Loneliness and social isolation are chronic problems in the elderly in the North East. An estimated 50,000 pensioners in the region are chronically lonely and are 50% more likely to die prematurely than people with good social networks. This means loneliness is as big a mortality risk as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Wag & Company is a registered charity enabling professionally assessed volunteers and their special dogs to befriend older dog lovers – in their own homes or in care or medical establishments – who miss friendship and the company of a dog.
