My Story

I have decided to run my very first half marathon in the Great North Run in aid of such a vital and worthy cause which has touched the lives of so many people in Sunderland. Please help me reach my target by donating as much or as little as you can.

St. Benedict's hospice in Ryhope provides free specialist palliative care to the people of Sunderland and surrounding areas and has done since 1984. Working at St. Paul's CE Primary School, which is right across the road, I have seen first hand the amazing care and support that the hospice has provided within its wonderful and warm environment and the children from St. Paul's have been welcomed warmly to share their carol singing with both patients and staff at Christmas.

The hospice treats their patients' stay as an extension of their own home, respecting individual wishes and providing high quality care. They work with many families and carers in a way that maintains dignity, privacy and freedom of informed choice.
