My Story

In late January 2021, our beloved Sheena sadly passed away from an ectopic pregnancy at just 34 years old. Unfortunately, Sheena was unaware she was pregnant and was experiencing the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy, and thus unable to seek the right emergency medical attention at the time. As a result, Sheen died suddenly that day.

Ectopic pregnancy is a common, life-threatening condition that is the leading cause of death in early pregnancy. It affects 1 in 80 pregnancies each year, and if left undiagnosed and untreated, can result in a life-threatening situation to the mother. Many of the symptoms are like early stages of a pregnancy or feeling unwell, for example, vaginal bleeding, sickness, dizziness/fainting, pain in lower back/abdomen, shoulder pain etc.

As stated on the Ectopic pregnancy website, there are on average two deaths per year in the UK and Ireland due to ectopic pregnancy. In the 21st century, no woman should die of an ectopic pregnancy. Depending on individual medical circumstances, several treatments are available. The pregnancy can never be saved.

The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust believes that the deaths and trauma associated with ectopic pregnancy should be prevented. They seek to relieve the distress associated with the experience and provide ongoing support through their treatment and beyond.

Sheena was a beautiful, talented, positive woman who was full of ambition, charisma, and laughter. She was free spirited and enjoyed everything life had to offer, and during her 34 years she made the most wonderful bonds and memories with her family/friends and was a loving wife.

The team of runners fundraising for Sheena are Krish; Sheena's husband, Vanisha; Sheena's cousin and Henry; Sheena's brother in law.

The purpose of doing this run is to raise awareness and support the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. Through your generous support, we can make a difference to ensure no other family experience the heartache and sadness ourselves and our families are going through.

Sheena touched so many lives positively in the time that she was with us. She will be forever in our hearts and dearly missed by everyone that loved her.

Thank you very much
