About us

At the Royal Grammar School Newcastle we love what we do; inspiring, stretching, challenging the hearts and minds of our exceptional students.  The opportunities at our School are incredible and we believe they should be available to bright boys and girls from across our North East region.  We are passionate about the RGS Educational Trust, which offers means-tested bursaries to the most phenominal young people, who genuinely deserve but could not otherwise access an education here. 

The leaders within our school are all passionate about the social diversity of our school, which is why they are running, amongst a team of 10, the Great North Run in aid of the Royal Grammar School Educational Trust.  Our team includes our Chair of Governors (Alan Fletcher),  Chair of the Bursary Campaign and Governor (Nigel McMinn), Headmaster (Geoffrey Stanford), Head of Junior School (James Miller) and Deputy Head of Junior School (Kat Clappison).  We are also grateful to have on Team RGS Martin Brown (Chair of Fleet Alliance - race vest sponsors) and Charlie Hoult (Chair of Hoults Yard).

The incredibly sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will add a different tone to the event, but the Great North Run will proceed, and the team will be running mindful of her dedication to service, and their own committment to helping others.
